On June 10th, Cane Country Squares held a surprise 80th Birthday Party for our retired Director Shirley Kelly. The night was made up of past members, present members and dancers with some callers and cuers making the trip to Bundaberg.
Our special thanks goes out to Callers and Cuers – Michael Mills, Nev & Bev McLachlan and David Smythe for making the trip.
During the night, Shirley was presented with an award of appreciation for 32yrs of service to Cane Country Squares from Club President Matthew Mills.

What a night, we had a fantastic time filled with Christmas tunes, Secret Santa and some games.

The Club had a great night for our magic of music with many dressing up for the occasion. We had many different styles of music played from oldies like baby face to recent styles.
Don’t forget the QLD state convention is next weekend and therefore no dancing at club. All dancers not going to the state convention get a night off.
A lot has happened since our last post. Our Friday night learners are going really well with a mixture of ages 🙂
We have recently had our guest caller Michael Mills here and the Saturday Night Theme was “Back to School”. We thought we would try to act like School students and take selfies 🙂 Take a look at the photos
Our Club caller Matthew is off to call away again but this time down at Burleigh Squares with Alan Evans.
We have our upcoming Sausage Sizzle in two weeks, hope to see many local dancers & partners as possible.
We have been running our Friday night learners for three weeks now and we had between 10 to 14 learners.
If you want to try Square Dancing, tonight is the night for you.
Our 10 week Thursday night group has evened out at 5 dancers with 4 weeks to go. We will be starting a new learners group on Friday night the 2nd of May. Those interested in trying square dancing, please come along and try at the Rum City Band hall on Targo St from 6pm to 7.30pm
We have had a great turnout so far with 10 new dancers the first Thursday night, 6 come back last Thursday. Our first Friday night leaners started last night with 3 new dancers.
